With the help of "Nth Metal", Hawkman is able to reduce the critical damage and strength of enemies, making him stronger and more resistant to damage.

Khufu is an Egyptian Prince that one night encountered a Thanagarian ship made of Nth Metal, the same material that was later used to kill him and his lover Chay-Ara by the evil Hath-Set.  The Nth Metal gifted both Khufu and Chay-Ara the ability of reincarnation, and condemned them into an eternal cycle of love and death.  Khufu took many faces over the centuries such as Carter Hall and took up the alias Hawkman to defeat evil.
