Born from Atlanna, Queen of Atlantis and Orvax, a ruthless Atlantean General. He was exposed to brutality at an early age, when his father was killed by his mother. He would then grow up to become King of Atlantis, in the absence of his half-brother, Aquaman. His endless hatred for the surface dwellers would eventually lead him to launch an all-out assault on the human population, an act that would finally match him against the might of his long-lost brother.
